> ABOUT
Hold to talk with friends, live, like a walkie-talkie. Telemancer is a full phone and messaging app for Android: live talk, voice messages called Scrolls, texts, voice and video calls, and group channels, all encrypted end to end so its own relay server never hears a word. It brings Tome OS's instant voice to everyday Android phones, free every day with an optional Plus plan. Downloads, plans and install steps are on tome-os.com.
> HOW IT WORKS
- Friends you already know: A hidden text carries your public key to your contacts. A phone running Telemancer keeps it only if it already has your number saved, then replies with its own, so only people who know each other connect. Anyone else can join through an invite link.
- Hold to talk: Your voice is recorded as Opus and played on your friend's phone as you speak. On the same Wi-Fi the two phones talk directly; otherwise Telemancer's own relay carries it, with the public ntfy.sh service as a backup.
- End-to-end encrypted: Every piece is sealed with ChaCha20-Poly1305 using keys only the phones hold. Calls use WebRTC, and group calls are encrypted on the phones with a key the server never has.
- Calls and channels: One-to-one voice and video calls, group channels with admins, announcements and invite links, and backup with 12 recovery words.
> INSTALLING
- Sideloading: Google Play only allows SMS permissions for texting apps, so Telemancer is installed from tome-os.com.
- Texts: The hidden texts are ordinary SMS to your carrier, so your plan's usual charges apply. Telemancer asks before sending any.
